We stress the importance of compression stockings and the benefits of improving venous blood flow, preventing venous blood from pooling in the legs, decreasing the risk of blood clots, lessening leg swelling and an overall improvement in symptoms caused by health issues and vein disease.
Why consider Compression?
- Compression stockings promote the venous blood flow from the feet back toward the heart overcoming the effects of gravity. Medical grade graduated compression is designed to be stronger in the feet and gradually diminish in pressure as they extend up the calf into the thigh.
- If you have active symptomatic vein disease, you should wear compression when you are up and about. There is no need to wear them when in bed, but you should put them on when you wake up in the morning. If you wait until later in the morning to put on your stockings, the blood will already begin to pool in the lower legs and feet making your symptoms worse.
Medical grade graduated compression comes in different prescriptive levels based on the degree of compression ranging from 20-30mmHg to 30-40 mmHg. This level of compression requires a prescription, and we can work hand in hand with your doctor to provide customizable care. A non-prescription level will be mild compression 8-15mmHg or moderate 15-20mmHg.
